The Valentine’s Day Films You’ll Love

Whatever your relationship status, we can all agree there’s nothing like a good love story. From silver screen classics to modern-day blockbusters, here’s our top picks of Valentine’s Day films…

February the 14th is upon us again, which brings with it the best love songs, chocolate and, of course, romantic films. Whether it’s a tear-jerker or timeless rom-com, discover what to have playing this V-day.

Isn’t It Romantic – 2019

This year’s latest rom-com, ‘Isn’t It Romantic’ isn’t your standard Valentine’s Day fare… which is why we’re (pun, firmly intended) loving it! The hilarious Rebel Wilson plays love-scorned Nataile, who finds herself in her ultimate nightmare – a leading lady in a rom-com! The romantic movie for those who don’t like romantic movies (and importantly, those who do.)

Gone With the Wind – 1939

Skip that dinner reservation for a bit of timeless cinema! ‘Gone With the Wind’ is an epic (literally – it clocks in at almost 4 hours) romance centring around the eternally glamorous Scarlett O’Hara and her oh-so-gripping love life during the American Civil War. Between Scarlett’s sweet-as-pie southern drawl and fabulously froufrou costumes this classic is a must-see for any old Hollywood fan.

Roman Holiday – 1953

Romeo and Juliet – 1996

Undeniably one of the greatest love stories ever made, this tale of star-crossed young lovers will make you smile, laugh and cry in equal measures. Our favourite adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic is the 1996 Baz Luhrmann-directed version, which is sexy, stylish and anything but traditional. Starring a little-known heartthrob, Leonardo DiCaprio opposite a very young Claire Danes, it’s one worth cancelling your dinner plans to watch.

The Notebook – 2004

Fancy a good ol’ bawl? Get the tissues ready and pop on ‘The Notebook’! Not just your average weepy flick, the film has enough twists and turns to keep you gripped to the end (and not to mention one of the steamiest, most memorable kisses in film history). This love story which spans multiple decades is a true modern classic, and rest assured contains a happy ending… Eventually.
