Style Stories: Louise O’Reilly

Irish style blogger, model and presenter Louise O’Reilly of @stylemecurvy shares with us her style stories, from how she got into the world of influencing to her favourite style icon…

On her style icons…

I’m drawn to those that have elegance with an edge. Olivia Palermo is one of my favourites but I also adore people-watching and street style when in certain cities, especially in Italy.

On the best piece of style advice…

When it comes to style, comfort will always be key. If I feel good, I look good (and don’t have to worry about an item twisting or slipping). That is SO important for me! In the end you will have a closet of key pieces that you will wear time and time again.

On the way she starts her day…

No day is ever the same for me because I still work as a curve model as well as a blogger. It can mean 4am starts for the airport to jet off for a shoot, or running to castings or meetings for 9am. With those early starts it can often mean I’m working 16-18 hour day. In that case, I’ll always start my day with a coffee.

On how she got ‘The Job’…

I fell into curve modelling around 10 years ago while still at uni studying International Relations & Politics. Back then, curve modelling wasn’t as popular as it is now and it was tough to prove yourself as brands were slow to use bigger sizes. This experience led me to starting my blog, Style Me Curvy, as a way to bridge the gap between plus-size fashion and straight-size fashion. I wanted to create a forum where everybody, inclusive of all sizes, could talk about fashion.

On how to unwind…

I’m terrible at ‘unplugging’ from social media, especially when it’s my job to be on there. However when I do switch off I love to just chill out and watch a movie, work out at the gym or catch up with my nearest and dearest over a coffee.

On what job she’d love if she did it all differently…

I’d love to be a presenter on a car show. I’m totally car obsessed!
