As spring approaches, we’re looking forward to sugar-sweet shades, romantic ruffles, floral prints and clean new shapes for the season.
Not sure what to update your wardrobe with this season? The Dorothy Perkins Spring Collection is coming, and here are the pieces that are definitely worth waiting for.
Girls, when it comes to trousers it’s time to try something new. Cropped and flared silhouettes are a key look for the season and update everything from simple black trousers to sharp navy tailoring. We’ve also fallen in love with oversized gingham checks – perfect as the weather warms up – and pinny dresses and jumpsuits that can be layered to suit the changing weather.
We’re pitching blue as the colour of the season – for both casual and smarter styles. From denim dressing (look out for our fabulous denim kimono top and matching culottes) to crisp tailoring, shirts and knits, blue is the hue to do. The trend for off-the-shoulder tops is also a big theme for SS16, so if you haven’t got one yet, now’s the time.
Ruffles are a key detail for spring/summer and they lend any outfit a softer, more romantic edge. Whether it’s a delicate frill-trim on the sleeve of your blouse or striking pussybow necklines for that ‘geek chic’ look, it’s all about attention to the little details. If romance is your thing, then don’t miss lace and Broderie Anglaise dresses too – a gorgeous outfit idea for all those summer events and BBQs.
A refreshing change in palette comes via the softest pastel shades. Utility-inspired shapes are instantly reinvented with floaty fabrics in blush and luxurious pink suede (and there’s one particular suede dress we’ll be racing to get first). There’s plenty more texture to discover too, like cool crochet dresses, easy knitted tank tops and faux-reptile finishes.
When it comes to accessories, be sure to make some room for mock-croc textures and animal prints. We’re also feeling fringing in a big way – across day bags, clutches, sandals, shoe boots, bag accessories and more. But when things really heat up, we’ll be reaching for our pool sliders once again. They’re the holiday favourite we can’t live without.
