National Siblings Day: Meet the Most Stylish Sisters We Know

To celebrate National Siblings Day on 10th April, we got together with our favourite sister act, @oliviaandalice_, to chat about sartorial similarities and differences, fashion, friendship and of course, sisterhood.

Whoever said work and family don’t mix well has definitely never met Olivia and Alice, the London-based designers and bloggers who’ve made fashion a family affair.

Working together on their brand the sisters admit that although people ask all the time about the drawbacks of mixing family and business, “it’s honestly so much fun. We have the same ideas in terms of creative content but our difference in personality traits gives us a good balance for a working relationship.”

With a fashion blog between them, when it comes to their outfits the girls say the other sister’s influence means “we both encourage each other to try something different, bold and fun!” With Alice describing Olivia’s style as “feminine with bright, bold colours” and Olivia admitting she loves the way her sister “pulls off effortlessly cool style.”

With this in mind we set the girls a task to pick out two outfits for one another, (one she’ll love and another you think she should try). With the results being, well… Gigi and Bella eat your heart out!

Outfit 1National Siblings Day - Fashion Blogger Sister Alice in Florals

Ruffle Detail Maxi Dress £40, Gemima Court Shoes £30

Alice’s Pick

For Olivia, I chose a gorgeous floral wrap-tie midi dress. She loves to wear a dress and feel feminine so I knew she would love the cut and colour of this one! She usually likes to make a bit of a statement so I though the print of the dress mixed with the ruffles would be a perfect combination. I paired this with some nude and black heels which added a chic touch to the look.

Olivia Says… I absolutely loved the pink dress that Alice picked for me and was super grateful that she did because its something I’ll get a lot of wear out of this spring! It can be worn during the day with flats, or out for dinner with the heels she chose, or even some black ankle boots and a leather jacket for an edgier twist. Alice definitely knows my style well as the pink dress is something I would choose myself.

National Siblings Day - Fashion Blogger Sister Olivia in Florals

Blush Floral Top £30, Blush Ankle Grazer Trousers £20, Blush Lazer Cut Sandals £25

Olivia’s Pick

I chose the pink floral blouse and pink cropped cigarette trousers for Alice and I knew she would love them! I paired them with some pretty pink sandals which are a great height, super-comfy looking and really versatile for spring. Turns out we know each other very well as she picked something very similar for me…

Alice say’s… I particularly liked the detailing on the sleeves and around the neckline on the floral blouse. It’s one of those pieces I can see myself wearing again and again now and in to summer. I wasn’t surprised we ended up going for the same floral print as it’s beautiful and screams spring!

Outfit 2National Siblings Day - Fashion Blogger Sister Alice in Trench Coat

Stone Dolly Mac £49, Bleached Boyfriend Jeans £28, Stripe Tee Coming Soon, Montana Ankle Boots £35

Alice’s Pick

I chose a beige trench for Olivia as it is not often she wears muted tones but she’s been keen to try a trench for a while. It’s perfect for spring as it’s lightweight and the colour means it goes with anything. I paired it with a casual pair of mom jeans and a cute yellow and white striped tee for a casual look. I also popped a pair of black heeled boots with this look to keep it simple so the coat stands out. The trench also looks amazing done up as it nips you in at the waist.

Olivia Says… The second outfit Alice chose me is something I wouldn’t necessarily pick, but I wasn’t sorry she chose the trench coat for me – I’ve been lusting after one since Burberry launched their latest collection at London Fashion Week! A high street version was just what I wanted is something that can be worn all year round. I’m looking forward to styling my new trench in different ways.

National Siblings Day - Fashion Blogger Sister Olivia in Printed Dress

Jacquard Print Shift Dress £35, White Tie Neck Shirt Coming Soon, Blush Lazer Cut Sandals £25

Olivia’s Pick

I picked a beautiful patterned mini dress for Alice in a gorgeous print that gave me all of the sixties vibes! I know Alice doesn’t wear dresses as often as me and rocks the tomboy look well, but she also looks great in dresses and the cut and fit of this little dress really suits her! I paired it with a simple white blouse with a neck tie, as I love the look of little dresses with a top underneath. The versatile shoes I picked for her with the first outfit already came in handy for pairing with this one, as the dress has blush pink running through it which matches the shoes perfectly.

Alice says… I was pleased with the items that Olivia chose. With her usually wearing the dress and me the trousers (literally not figuratively) I think it was nice we both managed to swap things up in the second look! I loved the fit of the dress and also think the print of the dress is a classic! I love how she put the top underneath it to give it another dimension. It’s something that can be worn to dinner could also look cute with a pair of trainers for a daytime look. The shoes were the perfect summer option too – comfy and they go with everything.

Quick Q&A

What’s so great about having a sister?
The best thing about having a sister is having someone you can trust and share everything with. We are each other’s biggest cheerleaders!

What are your top picks for spring?
We know it is cliché but florals in spring are forever groundbreaking! We also love all the pastel shades for a fresh spring look. Finally we are huge fans of the power suit, a suit in a pastel shade would be a perfect combination.

What’s the best thing you have taught each other?
I think by having each other we keep each other motivated and positive!

Who are your favourite famous sisters?
Mary-Kate and Ashley because although an obvious one they both have amazing style, are amazing business women and managed to be the faces of our favourite movies growing up! Olivia would be Mary- Kate and Alice Ashley because when we were younger Alice thought her rounder face was more akin to Ashley, is this true? We are not sure but that is how we came to the conclusion.

How are you going to celebrate Siblings Day?
We’re off to LA so will be celebrating with some in-flight films! We wonder if they will have any Mary-Kate and Ashley throwbacks on board?!
