Key skills

The qualifications, experience and key skills required for a career in Technical services will vary according to the level of position though generally to work in this field you will need:

• Technically based clothing degree (should include an understanding of patterns, garment construction, fabric performance and factory management).
• Related experience preferably within a retail/manufacturer environment.
• Be commercially aware with a solid understanding of the high street.
• Conversant with fabric testing as well as fitting garments.
• Can demonstrate initiative, problem solving and negotiation skills.
• Capability to work in a fast paced, high-pressured environment.
• Have excellent communication skills and the ability to converse with a variety of people.
